about us

After 20 years experience in the Australian fashion industry in buying and design I felt it was time to be brave and start my own label. Also with a big push from my good friend Tannie!!! – more on her later.

I have always had a passion for beautiful knitwear and shirts so this is my focus and have travelled the world sourcing fantastic suppliers in Melbourne, India, Bali, Korea and China to help bring this label to life.

I have surrounded myself with the best people possible in all areas from design, to manufacturing, logistics, to marketing, accounting, to banking, and pr. The brand is based on sourcing suppliers with an ethical intent that practice Fair Trade and will help me achieve sustainable products.

The little fuchsia brand represents great quality, beautiful textiles and detailing at very affordable prices.

The name “little fuchsia” is a nickname given to me by a great friend Mark Brayshaw some 25 years ago. His family still call me this to this day. Unfortunately two years ago Mark’s sister Sally was killed in a freak accident at the age of 36.

This terrible incident has had such a huge impact on my life, forcing me to reflect on what is really important, to be passionate about everything you do but most importantly to follow your bliss........ This is what Sally did in every minute of her 36 years.

The name is also in memory of my beautiful Nanna, Jean. She grew the most amazing fuchsias. She taught me to laugh, love and the importance of family.

Sally taught me the value of friendship, family and loyalty and still manages to bring a smile to my face when she pops into my thoughts.

Both these women shared a love of life, family and all things pink!

The little fuchsia family is ever expanding - I have had incredible encouragement and support from so many friends, family and work colleagues. You will see in the shop the styles are named after my friends for various reasons, and for a bit of fun. You will begin to recognise my obsession with white shirts and stripe knits – I’m hoping to develop yours too!!

My biggest thanks so far is to Jodie Nesbitt – graphic designer extraordinaire, who took the brief and brought my label to life with her fantastic graphic of the little fuchsia – I love it!!

On a serious note there is an opportunity for you to donate $2 to Reach Foundation if you so desire. Angry Anderson said many years ago in regards to being charitable – “If you can, you must”. I am with Angry 100%. I have chosen Reach as my family have had a long standing association with this incredible foundation, and it’s all about the kids – our future after all.

I hope you get as much joy from the little fuchsia range as I have had putting it together for you

Happy Shopping!

Love and Smiles,
little fuchsia xxx
